Franciscan Museum Karlovac

The Franciscan Monastery and the Church of the Holy Trinity in Karlovac form a unique historical and cultural complex, which the Franciscans have been managing since the 17th century. The Franciscans initiated the first schools in Karlovac, researched local flora, and wrote textbooks on natural history and geography. The monastery currently houses a collection of 10,000 rare books and sacred art objects, exhibited in the Museum of Sacred Heritage.

The church, a monument of national importance, is connected to the monastery and hides a garden and a peaceful courtyard within thick walls, where visitors can relax with a Franciscan craft beer. The Franciscans preserve artworks, stained glass windows, unique altars, as well as the cultural and spiritual identity of the city. The Franciscan Church, an essential location in tourist guides, has been a symbol of Karlovac’s cultural wealth and history for centuries.
