RESPONSIBLE HOLIDAY IN CROATIA

Summer in Croatia brings high temperatures, increased traffic on roads and at sea, and a large number of visitors. To ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday, it is important to be aware of potential risks and follow basic safety recommendations. Most emergency situations can be prevented through responsible behaviour and timely response to official warnings.

During periods of high temperatures, avoid direct sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, drink enough water regularly, and wear light-coloured clothing, a hat, and sunglasses. When planning excursions or spending time outdoors, bring sufficient water, food, and sun protection. The regular use of sunscreen will help protect your health while enjoying outdoor activities.

Special attention should be paid to wildfire prevention. Do not light fires in open areas, never leave barbecues unattended, and do not discard cigarette butts in nature or from vehicles. Even a small act of negligence can cause a wildfire with serious consequences for people, property, and the environment. If you notice smoke or fire, immediately notify the emergency services.

Before and during your stay in Croatia, follow weather warnings and information issued by the competent authorities. In emergency situations, you may receive alerts directly on your mobile phone through Croatia's Public Warning System. These messages contain important information and instructions and should always be taken seriously.

In any emergency situation, including traffic accidents, fires, injuries, sudden illness, or other incidents requiring urgent assistance, call 112. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and assistance can be provided in several languages. Fires can also be reported directly by calling 193.

We wish you a pleasant, safe, and enjoyable stay in Croatia. Enjoy your summer responsibly and help protect people, communities, and nature.
